Surfing Through Pregnancy

I thought I’d be surfing right up until the baby was born. In my mind I’d be one of those pregnant water women that navigated a bump by knee paddling a longboard, proudly sharing the waves with my unborn child. In reality, wetsuits for pregnant ladies don’t exist, I can hardly pull my socks on, let alone bend down to do up a leash, and the winter seas of Cornwall are truly unappealing to me right now.

You don’t always have to jump on a plane or sail across the seven seas to find paradisiacal corners. If you’re looking for secret spots during the claustrophobic summer months in Cornwall, it’s just a matter of a packing your rucksack and setting out on the coast path. Seek and ye shall find.

Walking the Path

It felt so good to be back on the path. Spring has always been my favourite season and this April wasn’t failing to renew my love of the world. The water that lapped at the sandy beaches and towering cliffs was crystal clear, sparkling in the early morning sunshine. Huge sub-tropical ferns grew wildly of their own accord.

How I'm Here

I recently offered to tell the story of how I became a copywriter for Creative Careers Week at my friend’s school. The Islands Less Explored: Secret Sumba

“Yeah it’s a weird place ay... They sacrifice giant buffalo and fight each other on horses and shit. Nothing like the Indo you’ll have seen before. There’s no roads or anything either - but the waves pump and the beaches are deserted.”

The Little Things of Van Life

The decision to live in a van full time was made exceptionally lightly for such a lifestyle shift. I was a pint or two down, so was Charlie, he called me, we got a bit over excited about the whole idea and decided to stop talking about it and just go for it.

Morning Light

I stood upon the edge of the earth as the sun rose. The wind whipped through my hair, stirring the surf, playing through the shrub and grass. The world yawned as the mist rose from the valley, the estuary and the dense woodland.
